2023 is set to be an amazing year here at the Copper Box, as the project starts to take shape.
At the end of last year, we successfully received approval, following a request to make an amendment to the project’s design (Section 73 application). This now means our revised development has full planning approval, and will commence development in March with a schedule to complete the project at the end of November 2023.
Copper Box, which sits in close proximity to Crosby Beach, will be our third major refurbishment project in as many years, following the successfully completion of developments in both Liverpool and Bradford.
We have once again enlisted our chosen Architects, Snow, to support us in the design process. We have built a strong relationship with Snow Architects, working with them on several previous and live projects across the region.
On receiving full approval, we immediately enlisted the expertise of several consultants to ensure compliance to all current building regulations and the new Building Safety Act, which imposes clear legislation on multi storey residential buildings post the Grenfell inquiry.
As a result, our in-house team have been collaborating with our chosen fire, acoustic and cladding consultants to produce a fully conformant design. This will then be submitted for building regulations approval.
Whilst this is happening, we will commence the existing service isolation, demolition and soft strip activities on site.
The above actions will give us a blank canvas to commence the refit works internally, commencing from the top floor downwards.
Our commercial team are eagerly placing sub contract orders for both labour and materials from our approved list, who are all pre-vetted in terms of quality, health and safety and the delivery of similar schemes.
